Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learned in the progression from it, to the full media product?

My first attempt at a magazine was not very successful. Not a lot of thought went into the design know the content.

The first thing that stands out is unsuccessful is the picture. I didn't realise while making the magazine just how important the images are my image is not at all engaging all made to attract the eye it also lacks the detail that my finished product has things like costume make up and poses have been completely overlooked and forgotten.

Also to do with the picture it is obviously not been edited the way it should.

Another thing is the headlines they are random and not strategically placed where as on my final project I realise that for the cover image to have its full effect the headlines would need to be placed what I would not distract from the image but still draw a potential buyer in.

While attempting my preliminary task I did not take the time to plan the content inside it was all spur of the momentand not thought through however when I came to my final product I made sure that I had planned what was going to be on the inside and is it fit with the magazines themes and geners.

Overall I feel that my preliminary task was not a success for me however looking back I can definitely see where I improved.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I think that Time Inc. would be a very good choice for a distributor of my magazine. Time Inc. already distributes a music magazine that is very rock and alternative based. Although this is different from my genre I think that this is a good thing because it will attract new people and open up the target audience for Time Inc. its self. Time Inc generally does not distribute music magazines but I feel that it would be the right company for my product.

How does your media product represent particular social groups

The main social group that I think would be interested in my magazine would be teenage girls I have chosen to represent and values of language within my product I have tried to make the text seems very bubbly and happy as this would appeal to A girl because I feel like they would connect more with a happy, bubbly text rather than a formal text because they would tire of reading it. Another way I have chosen to represent teenage girls is through use of colour the colours are used were red, black, light and pastel pinks. I think this is a very stereotypical representation of a girl but I think it is still accurate.

How did your attract/address your audience

Since my audience is targeted for females around their teenage years, I design my magazine in way in which I thought would appeal them, such as having the colour scheme a very light pink as this is generally associated with the female gender. I also made the text on the front very bold, simple, and minimalistic to keep the reader engaged and intrigued to find out about what is inside. I also had a front facing image which was very simple.

Another way which I attracted my audience was through the use of style. Pop is majorly about the way people look, and so for my imagery I used a white dress to symbolise the how innocent pop usually is. However this trend can sometimes come across as provocative with artists such as Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande. I also did my make up very fierce because people in pop are made to be the perfect image even if the perfection is achieved by artificial means. Artificial means could be plastic surgery or make up, on example that I used is eyeliner is a major trend in pop.

Who would be your audience for your media product?

My audience would generally be female and of a younger age, because I have found that many people in the older generation either don't keep up with pop music or they just aren't interested as they prefer music from their generation. Another reason why older people aren't as interested in pop music is that some times the magazines are not about the music but the artists and the things they do and this is included in my magazine such as Rihanna's best outfits and this may cause them to dislike my magazine because it features things they are not interested in or comfortable with.

However the older generation could be a part of my audience.  This is like the Penumbra effect, the sun is like the minute unexpected audience that magazine producers do not expect to see, and the moon represents the typical audience that producers expect to see.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

one thing I learned is that you need multiple editing websites. this is because one editing app will not have everything you need and so you will have to know several if you want to be able to do everything you need to do to the picture. this was the case when I went to remove the back ground on one picture but then once I had completed that I needed to editing the person in the image and so I had to use a different website to do that.

Another thing I learned was that a good camera wasn't as important as it seemed, although I did use the camera to take some photos my main image was taken with a phone and then transferred to a computer to edit it. I did this because I had a lack of equipment where I wanted to take my pictures so I just used what I had and in the end they turned out really well.

Photography

I have put in a lot of time towards researching photography and how to take the best picture for my magazine. some general tips for photography were to play with focus, to make the main thing in the image slightly off centre. there is also the rule of thirds, this is when there is a grid on the screen and it helps you to proportion the photo. I found these tips very useful when taking my photos. I had to take my photos around three times before I had the images that I wanted each time I perfected different things such as the lighting, the background, and the focus. Did not realise until I looked at my first attempt at my photos how important it was to know your way around the camera. Once I realise this I tried to look around on the Internet for some tips that would help I also asked some friends that I knew could work a Camera quite well if they would teach me some things they knew. Overall photography played a very big part in the construction of my final product and without researching photography the way I did I do not think that my magazine would've turned out as well as it has
